Norwood Man Sentenced for Violent Threats

A Norwood, Colorado man has been sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for making violent threats against a law enforcement official.

Bryan Cornwell, 42, was convicted of two counts of transmitting threats in interstate commerce, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado.

The threats, which were sent via email in late August through October 2023, included graphic and threatening messages, such as ‘You will beg me… beg and plead and scream in pain by my hand tick tok m***** f***er,’ and repeated statements that ‘I AM GOING TO KILL YOU.’

Cornwell was pending sentencing on a prior case where he admitted to threatening to blow up the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office at the time he sent the threatening messages.

United States Attorney for the District of Colorado Peter McNeilly said, ‘Do not make threats against law enforcement officials. Doing so will land you in federal prison.’

This case was investigated by the FBI Denver Field Office and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey K. Graves.

United States District Judge Gordon Gallagher handled the sentencing, which included a three-year term of supervised release.
