A disturbing trend of cyber harassment has come to light in the City of Brotherly Love, as Bryan McGraw, a 49-year-old man from Philadelphia, has been charged with sending harassing text messages over a four-year period.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, McGraw repeatedly sent communications between February of 2014 and March of 2018, via a telecommunications device, solely for the purpose of harassing a specific individual.
The information alleges that McGraw’s actions were a clear violation of the law, and he now faces the consequences. If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 2 years imprisonment, 1 year of supervised release, a fine of $250,000, restitution, forfeiture, and a $100 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Albert S. Glenn.
It’s worth noting that an Indictment, Information or Criminal Complaint is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
