Bryan Michael Adams, Heroin Distribution, West Virginia 2018

A 28-year-old Huntington man, Bryan Michael Adams, has been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for his role in a heroin distribution conspiracy in 2017 and 2018. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers, who presided over the case in federal court in Huntington.

Adams previously pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the distribution of heroin, as part of a plea agreement that also implicated him in a larger conspiracy to distribute the deadly opioid. Court documents reveal that Adams, along with at least one other individual, conspired to distribute heroin in the Huntington area from at least November 2017 to April 2018.

On April 4, 2018, a confidential informant contacted Adams to arrange a purchase of heroin, which ultimately led to the distribution of the opioid at a residence that Adams shared with another individual located at 4260 U.S. Route 60, Apartment 7 in Huntington. This marked just one of several instances in which Adams participated in heroin deals, including an April 11, 2018, transaction in which he assisted another individual in selling the opioid.

Adams’ involvement in the conspiracy led to the distribution of up to 100 grams of heroin, according to prosecutors. The case was prosecuted as part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (S.O.S.), a focused enforcement effort aimed at reducing the supply of deadly synthetic opioids in high-impact areas.

United States Attorney Mike Stuart commended the investigative efforts of the FBI Drug Task Force and the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department, which worked together to bring Adams to justice. Stuart, in a statement, emphasized the importance of combating the heroin epidemic in Huntington through enforcement, prevention, and treatment.

‘Heroin dealer after heroin dealer,’ said Stuart. ‘We’re locking them up. We’re united in fighting the drug epidemic in Huntington through enforcement, prevention and treatment and we’re making tremendous progress.’

Assistant United States Attorney Joseph F. Adams handled the prosecution, which resulted in the 41-month sentence for Bryan Michael Adams. The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat the opioid crisis in West Virginia and the importance of holding those responsible for perpetuating it accountable.
