Bryce Martin, Conspiring to Traffic Firearms, New York 2022

Two Georgia residents have been charged with conspiring to traffic firearms from Georgia to New York, according to the Southern District of New York’s U.S. Attorney Damian Williams.

Bryce Martin, 23, of Hampton, Georgia, and Xavier Simms, 22, of Covington, Georgia, were presented in White Plains federal court on April 20, 2022 before United States Magistrate Andrew E. Krause.

The defendants allegedly traveled together with a third co-conspirator who opened fire on a FBI Federal Task Force Officer after law enforcement attempted to interdict in Yonkers, New York.

“Gun crime is plaguing our communities, and the actions of the criminals using them are putting lives in danger,” said U.S. Attorney Damian Williams.

The FBI’s Assistant Director-in-Charge Michael J. Driscoll added, “We are grateful for the survival of our partner, and our thoughts remain with him and his loved ones as he continues to recover from his injuries.”

Yonkers Police Commissioner Mueller stated, “The Yonkers Police and our fantastic federal, state and local partners will never stop from providing a safe and secure environment for our beloved residents.”

Martin and Simms are each charged with one count of conspiring to traffic firearms, which carries a maximum sentence of five years’ imprisonment.

The case is being handled by the Office’s White Plains Division, with Assistant United States Attorneys Shiva H. Logarajah and Kevin T. Sullivan in charge of the prosecution.

As alleged in the Complaint, the defendants were involved in the sale of firearms, including a “Ghost Gun,” an untraceable type of weapon that continues to pose a significant threat in communities.

The outstanding investigative work of the FBI and the Yonkers Police Department has led to the recovery of several firearms, including the “Ghost Gun,” and the apprehension of the defendants.
