Samuel Nappo, Controlled Substance Fraud, New York 2024

Buffalo’s Samuel Nappo has entered a guilty plea in federal court for obtaining controlled substances through fraud. The 38-year-old faces up to four years in prison and a $250,000 fine after selling drugs like fentanyl and oxycodone on the streets of Buffalo.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Adler revealed that Nappo, along with nine others, were supplied with prescriptions by Brandon Coburn, a licensed nurse practitioner. Coburn is accused of issuing these prescriptions without legitimate medical purposes.

The investigation uncovered that Nappo filled 26 prescriptions and sold the drugs on the street. To date, seven defendants have been convicted in this case.

Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr., announced the plea before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. Sentencing is set for September 1, 2017.

The investigation leading to Nappo’s conviction was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge James J. Hunt.
