Buffalo Man Charged with Selling Fentanyl
A 25-year-old Buffalo man has been arrested and charged with selling fentanyl, a highly addictive and deadly opioid. Brennen Bryant, Jr. faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine if convicted.
According to the complaint, Bryant was linked to the sale of heroin through text messages on a cellular telephone recovered from a deceased individual who died of an overdose. Between November 1, 2017, and December 5, 2017, law enforcement officers conducted six undercover heroin purchases from Bryant.
The investigation was conducted by the Orchard Park Police Department, under the direction of Chief Mark Pacholec; the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), under the direction of Major David Krause, and Lieutenant Kevin Reyes; and the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge James J. Hunt, New York Field Division.
Bryant made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder and is being detained. The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
The case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Seth T. Molisani. Contact Barbara Burns at (716) 843-5817 for more information.
Bryant’s arrest is a significant blow to the ongoing struggle against opioid addiction and trafficking in Western New York. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
