Buffalo Man Indicted for Sickening Child Porn, Cyberstalking Crimes

BUFFALO, N.Y. – A twisted individual has been brought to justice for his heinous crimes against children. Raymond Brooks, 25, of Buffalo, NY, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography by an individual with a prior sex offense conviction, and cyberstalking, charges that carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Franz T. Wright stated that in January 2019, Brooks was convicted in Erie County Court of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child. Just 14 months later, law enforcement searched Brooks’ cell phone, uncovering images and videos containing child pornography. Some of these disturbing images and videos depicted prepubescent minors engaged in violent sexual conduct.

In January 2021, Brooks contacted a 15-year-old victim via Snapchat, coercing her into producing sexually explicit images of herself and sending them to him. Brooks then repeatedly threatened the victim, warning her that if she didn’t send more explicit images or videos, he would distribute the existing ones to her family members, friends, and other Snapchat users. This horrific exploitation led the victim to create more sexually explicit images and videos.

The plea is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of holding predators accountable for their actions and the devastating impact their crimes can have on victims.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 3, 2024, before Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. As the community breathes a sigh of relief, we must continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our children, and demand justice for those who have been victimized by such heinous crimes.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation will continue to work tirelessly to identify and prosecute individuals who engage in child exploitation and online harassment. We urge anyone with information about such crimes to come forward and report them to the authorities.
