Ralph Minni, a 54-year-old Rochester postal manager, has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York, Minni used his position at the Greece Post Office to steal parcels containing controlled substances, such as marijuana, and redistribute them to other individuals. He also distributed quantities of cocaine to a coworker, who would then snort the cocaine in Minni’s presence.
On May 2, 2022, a search warrant was executed at Minni’s residence, where investigators recovered approximately 700 grams of cocaine, approximately 40 firearms, and over 19,000 rounds of ammunition. Minni was arrested that same day after leaving the Greece Post Office.
The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Postal Service, and the United States Postal Inspection Service, revealed that Minni had been stealing parcels containing controlled substances and redistributing them for profit. He faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum of 40 years, and a $5,000,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean C. Eldridge stated that Minni’s actions were a betrayal of the public’s trust and a serious threat to the community. The case highlights the need for increased security measures at the post office to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Sentencing is scheduled for August 13, 2024, at 9:15 a.m. before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa. The charges against Minni include possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, a Class A felony, and possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance, a Class C felony.
