Torrence Dyck, Cocaine Trafficking, New York 2024

A Rochester man has been handed a lengthy sentence for his role in a cocaine trafficking operation. Torrence Dyck, 51, of Rochester, New York, was sentenced to 150 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr. for his involvement in a conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, 500 grams or more of cocaine, as well as possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon.

The investigation, led by the Rochester Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, uncovered a drug house on Warsaw Street in Rochester where Dyck operated. Workers were recruited and paid by Dyck to distribute street-level quantities of cocaine to customers at the drug house. During the investigation, law enforcement recovered approximately 640 grams of cocaine, more than $20,000 in drug proceeds, drug packaging materials, and two firearms.

Dyck’s prior convictions for Robbery, Criminal Negligent Homicide, federal narcotics conspiracy, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol make him legally prohibited from possessing firearms. The sentencing is the result of a joint effort between the Rochester Police Department, under the direction of Chief David Smith, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan Miller, New York Field Division. Additional assistance was provided by the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, under the direction of District Attorney Sandra Doorley.

The case against Dyck was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brett A. Harvey, who noted that Dyck operated a lucrative cocaine trafficking operation in the heart of Rochester. The operation was responsible for distributing significant quantities of cocaine to customers, generating substantial profits for Dyck and his associates.

The consequences of Dyck’s actions are clear: a lengthy prison sentence and the dismantling of a potentially deadly cocaine trafficking operation. The Rochester community can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that a major player in the city’s illicit drug trade has been held accountable.

The investigation and subsequent sentencing serve as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and gun violence in the Rochester area. As the community continues to grapple with the devastating effects of these crimes, it is essential that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
