A Buffalo man, Adrian Funderburk, 37, has pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, following a search of his residence that yielded cocaine, a loaded gun, and large sums of cash.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles E. Watkins, investigators with the Buffalo Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives executed a search warrant at Funderburk’s Wecker Street residence on January 6, 2021.

During the search, authorities recovered approximately 36 grams of cocaine, seven pounds of marijuana, a loaded .40 caliber pistol, and $70,000 in cash, Watkins stated.

Funderburk used the firearm to protect himself, his drugs, and his drug proceeds, Watkins added.

The plea is the result of an investigation by the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Byron Lockwood, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge John B. Devito.

Funderburk is scheduled to be sentenced on February 18, 2022, before U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo. He faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison and a maximum of life.
