Jaime Smith, Methamphetamine and Fentanyl Trafficking, New York 2023

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York has dropped a重磅 bombshell on Jaime Smith, 37, of Buffalo, charging him with a laundry list of drug trafficking crimes. Smith stands accused of conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine, fentanyl, and crack cocaine, according to charges returned by a federal grand jury.

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the charges, which carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, with a possible life term and a staggering $10 million fine hanging over Smith’s head.

The indictment alleges that Smith conspired with others between January 2022 and May 2024 to possess and distribute the deadly drugs. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an aggressive nationwide effort aimed at eradicating cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), as well as protecting communities from violent crime.

Donna Duncan, Assistant U.S. Attorney handling the case, emphasized that the charges against Smith are merely accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The investigation into Smith’s alleged activities was a joint effort by Homeland Security Investigations, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the New York State Police, with Special Agents Erin Keegan, Frank Tarantino, III, and Major Amie P. Feroleto at the helm.

As the grimy details of this drug trafficking ring unravel, it serves as a stark reminder of the relentless fight against organized crime and the dangerous drug trade that plagues our streets.
