Felon Caught With Gun
A Buffalo man is behind bars after being convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Denzel Robinson, 27, also known as Sparks, was sentenced to 38 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.
Robinson was found to be in possession of a .22 caliber rifle and multiple rounds of ammunition on April 28, 2020, after a search warrant was executed at his residence on Sun Street in Buffalo. The Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Byron Lockwood, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Stephen Belongia, conducted the investigation.
It was revealed that Robinson had a prior conviction in Erie County Court for bail jumping in June 2018, making him legally prohibited from possessing a firearm and ammunition.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael J. Adler and Charles E. Watkins, Jr., who handled the case, stated that Robinson’s actions put him at odds with the law, and the sentence handed down by the judge is a result of his repeated disregard for the law.
The sentencing marks the culmination of a long investigation by law enforcement agencies. The case serves as a reminder of the consequences of committing crimes while possessing a firearm.
