A 31-year-old man from Buffalo, New York, has been sentenced to 51 months in prison for selling cocaine and fentanyl. Rashawn Brown, 31, of Buffalo, NY, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, crack cocaine and fentanyl.
Brown sold crack cocaine to an undercover officer on four occasions between March 31, 2017, and April 24, 2017. On one of those occasions, he also sold fentanyl and crack cocaine to the undercover officer working with the Lackawanna Police Department.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge James J. Hunt, and the Lackawanna Police Department, under the direction of Chief James Michel.
Brown was previously convicted in September 2012 in Erie County Court of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, a felony.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura A. Higgins handled the case and stated that the defendant’s actions were a serious threat to the community. The conviction and sentencing are a result of hard work by law enforcement agencies and a commitment to keeping the community safe.
The case is a reminder of the dangers of drug trafficking and the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to combat it. The public is urged to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
