Buffalo, N.Y. – Justin Vazquez, a 30-year-old resident of Buffalo, NY, has been found guilty by a federal jury for the damaging of government property within a local courtroom.
The offense occurred on October 20, 2016, when Vazquez defaced a wooden table in Chief U.S. District Judge Joseph P. Geraci’s courtroom with a vulgar obscenity during a status conference ahead of his trial for a firearm charge.
Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr., announced the conviction, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison. Vazquez was previously sentenced to 72 months in prison on the firearm charge in May 2017.
This outcome is the result of an investigation led by Marshal Charles Salina and his team with the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
Vazquez will be sentenced before Judge Geraci on September 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m.
