Antonio Broadus, Fentanyl Distribution, New York 2024

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The streets of Buffalo have been struck by a harsh sentence, as 33-year-old Antonio Broadus was today sentenced to serve 30 months in federal prison for his role in the distribution of fentanyl.

Broadus, a man from the city himself, stood before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara, where he faced justice for possession with intent to distribute and distribution of the deadly drug.

The U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr., announced the sentence, which followed a meticulous investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Special Agent-in-Charge Ray Donovan led the team that dismantled Broadus’s operation.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy C. Lynch, on February 11, 2018, an undercover DEA agent arranged to purchase five grams of fentanyl from Broadus in a clandestine transaction at the parking lot of a retail store on Jefferson Avenue. The deal was sealed with $420 changing hands for the illicit substance. This wasn’t Broadus’s first time; Lynch also revealed that Broadus had sold another five grams of fentanyl just weeks prior, on January 29, 2018.

Today’s sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by illegal drug trade and the unwavering commitment of law enforcement to combat it. The DEA has once again proven its ability to crack down on those who profit from the distribution of deadly drugs like fentanyl.
