BOSTON, MA – A Mexican national with a history of deportation and crime has been sentenced to prison for illegal reentry. Bulmaro Enriquez, 32, was sentenced to eight months in prison and two years of supervised release by U.S. District Court Judge Allison D. Burroughs on July 25, 2018.
Enriquez has been deported a total of nine times, with his most recent removal occurring on February 4, 2016. He has a lengthy criminal record, including convictions for drunk driving and drug possession. In 2015, Enriquez was arrested in Framingham following the execution of a state search warrant, which resulted in the seizure of one and a half pounds of marijuana, electric scales, and other drug distribution paraphernalia.
Enriquez was arrested in Framingham on November 23, 2017, and charged with domestic assault and battery. He was released by the state, but later charged with illegal reentry in federal court. Enriquez pleaded guilty to one count of illegal reentry of a deported alien on July 25, 2018.
Enriquez was released from federal custody on June 7, 2018, after agreeing to post the equity in his girlfriend’s home. However, he subsequently violated conditions of federal pretrial release by testing positive for cocaine and buprenorphine. U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge M. Page Kelley revoked Enriquez’s prior order of release and ordered him detained pending sentencing.
United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling and Todd M. Lyons, Acting Field Office Director, Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, made the announcement today. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth G. Shine of Lelling’s Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
Enriquez will be subject to deportation proceedings upon completion of his sentence. He has pending state charges for domestic assault and battery, and prior convictions for drunk driving and drug possession.
