California Man Accused of Child Exploitation in Ohio Sex Trip

GRIMY NEWS EXCLUSIVE: Edwin Franco Rolffo-Zavala, 24, of Novato, California, has been charged by the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio with sexual exploitation of a child, transporting visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

The grim charges stem from allegations that Rolffo-Zavala coerced a 13-year-old girl into engaging in sexually explicit conduct between May 13, 2013, and January 13, 2014. He is accused of transmitting live visual depictions of this conduct over the internet.

Moreover, the indictment states that from January 1, 2011, to January 13, 2014, Rolffo-Zavala transported numerous computer files with visual depictions of real minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct across state lines.

The charges escalate further with allegations that on January 16, 2014, Rolffo-Zavala traveled from California to Ohio with the intent to engage in sexual conduct with a 14-year-old girl.

Assistant United States Attorney Michael A. Sullivan is handling the prosecution of this case, which was investigated by the Akron Office of the FBI and the Medina City Police Department. The defendant faces serious federal sentencing guidelines if convicted.
