Seattle – In a dramatic crackdown on drug trafficking, federal agents have dismantled a massive distribution network connected to the Sinaloa Cartel. Led by brothers Rosario Abel “Joaquin” Camargo Banuelos, 31, and Francisco “Fernando” Camargo Banuelos, 24, both from Mexico’s Sinaloa area, this ring was responsible for distributing fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin across western Washington.
Acting U.S. Attorney Teal Luthy Miller announced that the operation led to multiple arrests, including those of Joaquin and Fernando Camargo Banuelos, who profited by spreading their poisons in the Pacific Northwest. The DEA and its partners seized hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine and fentanyl, enough to potentially kill everyone living in the Seattle-Tacoma metro area.
HSI Seattle Acting Special Agent in Charge Colin Jackson praised the investigation, emphasizing the success of interagency collaboration in combating dangerous drug networks. Isabel Villarreal Zapien, 44, a Mexican citizen and truck driver, was also arrested for her role in transporting large loads of drugs.
The indictment names 18 other members of the ring, including couriers, distributors, and stash house attendants. Among them are Jose Mejia Ortiz, 30; Juan Carlos Garcia Olais, 28; Jorge Boneo Nieblas, 21; and Eder Ramirez Pino, 33, who faces firearms violations.
This bust brings the total number of defendants to 19, with charges ranging from drug trafficking conspiracy to firearms violations. The Camargo Banuelos brothers and their associates are now facing justice for their role in poisoning communities across Washington state.
