A Camdenton, Missouri man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison without parole for receiving child pornography over the internet.
Duffy Dean Woodman, 52, of Camdenton, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Bough for the crime, which occurred at a residence in Laclede County, Missouri, and at Woodman’s residence in Camdenton.
The investigation into Woodman began in October 2015, when the Laclede County, Missouri Sheriff’s Department received a report that a 10-year-old child had been molested by Woodman. Law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Woodman’s residence on November 9, 2015, and seized two laptop computers, two tablets, three cell phones, and a 700MB CD-RW.
One of the tablets contained 350 images of child pornography, while 54 child erotica images and 12 bestiality images were found in unallocated space. An examination of one of the laptop computers revealed numerous search terms consistent with child pornography activity. Numerous images of child erotica and cartoon images depicting children engaged in sexual activity were found on the laptop.
Woodman pleaded guilty on October 12, 2017. He is currently charged in Morgan County Circuit Court with molesting a 10-year-old victim and awaits sentencing on state charges of statutory sodomy and child molestation in the first degree.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley S. Turner and investigated by the FBI, the Camden County, Missouri Sheriff’s Department, and the Missouri State Technical Assistance Team. It was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Woodman will serve a 10-year term of supervised release following incarceration. He is considered a high-risk offender and poses a significant threat to the community.
This case highlights the importance of vigilance in protecting children from predators. It also underscores the need for continued cooperation between law enforcement agencies at all levels to combat the scourge of child exploitation.
Woodman’s sentence serves as a warning to those who would seek to exploit and harm children. It is a testament to the dedication and perseverance of law enforcement officers who work tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice.
