It’s a gritty tale of crime and consequence as five Canton men, aged between 18 and 21, have been indicted in federal court for an audacious firearms heist. The crew is accused of swiping 22 guns from Elite Security Consultants LLC on February 2, 2019. Four of the suspects also face conspiracy charges for plotting to steal from another Canton gun store, Stark Arms.
Robert Clark, Jr., Marquelis Thomas, Shymeik Barkley, God Gibson, and Jamaryon Frazier are staring down serious charges for their alleged roles in the high-stakes theft. The indictment paints a picture of a well-planned operation, with the five men attempting to gain entry into Stark Arms by throwing a metal object through the window while wearing gloves and face coverings.
Conviction could lead to substantial penalties, as sentences are to be determined by the Court based on individual roles and prior records. The defendants maintain their innocence until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, as per legal due process.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime through local law enforcement partnerships. It’s another reminder that violent criminals are being targeted with renewed vigor by the Department of Justice and its partners.
The investigation into this brazen act was a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Canton Police Department, and Stark County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron P. Howell is handling the prosecution.
Remember, an indictment is not proof of guilt, and the burden of proof lies with the government to establish guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
