New Orleans, Louisiana – Pedro Tailor Castillo-Bonilla, also known as ‘CASTILLO’, a 43-year-old Honduran national, has been handed down an ominous sentence for his egregious act of illegal reentry into the United States. CASTILLO has been caught red-handed, pleading guilty on August 20, 2025, to charges of illegal reentry of a previously removed alien, a violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).
According to the grim details of the charging document, CASTILLO was found lurking in the United States on June 18, 2025. The court’s records show that he brazenly reentered the country without the authorization of the Attorney General after being deported on August 15, 2012. This audacious act has now led to a possible two-year prison term for CASTILLO.
Not only is CASTILLO facing the prospect of serving time, but he also stands to pay a fine that could reach up to $250,000.00 and endure one year of supervised release. Additionally, he will be required to fork out a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.00. CASTILLO’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 19, 2025, before United States District Judge Lance M. Africk.
This harrowing case is part of the aggressive nationwide initiative Operation Take Back America. This operation, which mobilizes the full force of the Department of Justice, aims to repel illegal immigration and stamp out cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) while safeguarding local communities from violent crime. CASTILLO’s prosecution has been a collaborative effort between the United States Coast Guard, the United States Customs and Border Protection, and the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs), along with Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson lauded the efforts of these law enforcement agencies in bringing CASTILLO to justice. Special Assistant United States Attorney Rick Veters, representing the General Crimes Unit, is at the helm of this prosecution.
