CEBRINN HILL, the alleged mastermind behind a spate of gun violence in Buffalo, has been nabbed by federal authorities. The 25-year-old man stands accused of being involved in two tragic murders and four additional shootings, according to U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr.
Hill is charged with aiding and abetting the discharge of a firearm that resulted in the death of two individuals and faces a life sentence along with a $250,000 fine. The crime spree, which authorities say was carried out by Hill and members of the 10th Street Gang, left two people dead and four injured.
The shooting spree took place on April 17, 2006, in retaliation for an earlier attack on a gang member. Hill’s co-conspirators were believed to be part of the same gang and its associates. Brandon MacDonald and Darinell Young lost their lives on Pennsylvania Street in Buffalo’s West Side.
Hill appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder, Jr., this afternoon after his arrest. He is currently being held pending a detention hearing scheduled for March 3, 2015.
The investigation leading to Hill’s charges was the result of a collaborative effort between the FBI, New York State Police, Buffalo Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, each under the direction of their respective heads. It is important to note that the charge against Hill is merely an accusation, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
