Cedar Rapids’s Anthony Chan Dixon, a 35-year-old drug trafficker, has been sentenced to over eight years in federal prison for his role in the deadly fentanyl pill ring. The man known as the ‘Fentanyl Kingpin’ of Cedar Rapids was handed down the severe sentence by United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams on July 7, 2025.
Dixon, a former resident of Cedar Rapids who moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 2022, admitted to shipping at least 4,500 fentanyl pills to local dealers between that year and September 2023. His criminal activities were halted after a successful investigation by the Johnson County Drug Enforcement Task Force, which included multiple law enforcement agencies.
Information presented during the sentencing hearing revealed Dixon’s extensive criminal history, including two prior felony drug convictions. Despite this, he continued his illegal activities, ultimately leading to his downfall and now a lengthy prison term.
The court ordered Dixon to serve 106 months in federal prison, followed by a three-year supervised release period. With no parole available in the federal system, Dixon will spend most of the next decade behind bars for his role in distributing the dangerous substance that has claimed numerous lives.
Dixon is currently being held in the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service until he can be transported to a federal correctional facility. The case against him was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Dillan Edwards, who will no doubt seek justice for those affected by Dixon’s activities.
