Cedar Rapids Heroin Dealer Sentenced to Federal Prison
A disturbing case of heroin distribution resulted in a federal prison sentence for Diondray Louis Wilson, a 34-year-old man from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
On November 21, 2019, Wilson distributed heroin to an individual who later overdosed but regained consciousness after emergency personnel arrived.
Wilson’s actions led to a federal indictment, and he pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of a controlled substance on February 8, 2021.
At sentencing on September 3, 2021, before United States District Court Judge C.J. Williams, Wilson was sentenced to 41 months’ imprisonment.
Following his prison term, Wilson will serve a six-year term of supervised release. In the federal system, there is no parole.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Dillan Edwards and investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force, which included the DEA, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, the Cedar Rapids Police Department, the Marion Police Department, and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
Wilson is currently being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
