Former telecommunications CEO Anthony James Lang was dealt a severe blow by the federal justice system on September 18, 2025. Lang, 42, of Jesup, Iowa, stood before Chief Judge C.J. Williams in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and received a sentence of over three years for his brazen wire fraud scheme.
Lang’s crime was not just financial; it was an act of betrayal against the trust placed in him as the Chief Executive Officer of a telecommunication and internet service provider. From January 2017 through January 2023, Lang systematically siphoned over $600,000 from his employer’s coffers, all while having unfettered access to company books and accounts.
The court heard that Lang’s greed led to a six-year-long conspiracy to defraud his own company. His actions were described as an egregious example of waste and greed by Chief Judge C.J. Williams during the sentencing hearing.
Lang’s punishment was handed down in Cedar Rapids, with United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams imposing a sentence of 38 months’ imprisonment. He was also ordered to pay $662,736.00 in restitution and must serve a three-year term of supervised release following his prison term. There is no possibility of parole within the federal system.
Lang, who was released on bond prior to sentencing, will surrender to the Bureau of Prisons at an undetermined date. The prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorney Nicole L. Nagin, with the Federal Bureau of Investigations conducting the investigation.
