New Orleans, Louisiana – A Honduran national has been handed down a tough sentence for illegal reentry into the United States. Wilmer Antonio Garcia-Aquino, 43, was sentenced on August 21, 2025, by U.S. District Judge Lance M. Africk to 3 months imprisonment, followed by 3 years of supervised release upon his release from prison. Garcia-Aquino was also ordered to pay a mandatory $100 special assessment fee. After serving his sentence, he will be turned over to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for removal proceedings, in accordance with the Immigration and Nationality Act.
