Titusville Man Pleads Guilty to Interstate Firearms Parts Theft Conspiracy

Orlando, Florida – Chad Earl Cotsamire, a 44-year-old from Titusville, Florida, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to transport stolen property in interstate commerce. Cotsamire’s plea was announced by United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg.

According to the plea agreement, Cotsamire was an employee of a firearms and firearms parts manufacturer. Between September 2019 and June 2022, at the direction of co-conspirators, Cotsamire stole firearms parts from his employer, and transported those firearms parts to buyers across state lines. Cotsamire personally obtained $190,314.83 as a result of the conspiracy.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Noah P. Dorman.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the Bureau launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.

Cotsamire faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison. He has agreed to forfeit $190,314.83, the proceeds of the conspiracy.
