A 16-year-old kidnapping and child molestation case from Jackson County, Indiana, has finally seen some closure with the arrest of Charles Hollin, a 61-year-old former resident of the county.
Hollin, who also went by the alias Andrew David Hall, was arrested this week in Salem, Oregon, by FBI agents. He will be returned to Jackson County to face felony charges for crimes committed in January 1999.
According to the charges, Hollin allegedly abducted a 10-year-old girl from a local girl’s club in Seymour, Indiana. The girl was forced into a car at knifepoint and taken to a secluded area of the county where she was sexually molested.
Forensic evidence collected at the scene pointed to Hollin as a suspect. Two counts of class B felony confinement with a deadly weapon and three counts of class A felony child molestation charges were filed by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office in February 2000.
Hollin is also charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and identity theft. He is alleged to have obtained a new identity and attempted to evade law enforcement for over 16 years.
The case is a prime example of the tenacity of the FBI. Hollin’s arrest is a result of the persistent efforts of the FBI and local partners in bringing the case to justice and hopefully providing closure to the victim and her family.
Hollin is currently in the custody of the United States Marshal Service in Portland, Oregon, and will be returned to the Southern District of Indiana to face the charges against him.
