CHARLESTON, S.C. — In a gritty blow to the city’s drug underworld, Warren Lamar Forrest, 32, of North Charleston, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking ring. The sentence, handed down by United States District Judge Bruce Hendricks, also includes a four-year term of court-ordered supervision.
Forrest’s downfall began when law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence. The black bag they uncovered contained a loaded 9mm pistol stolen from an earlier heist, along with three magazines and an assault rifle. The seizure didn’t end there; police also discovered two digital scales, plastic baggies, and nearly two pounds of marijuana.
Forrest’s legal woes were compounded by his prior felony convictions, which rendered him federally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Lietzow led the prosecution in this high-stakes case.
Judge Hendricks’ sentence leaves no room for parole within the federal system, ensuring that Forrest will serve his full term before he can breathe free air again.
This conviction is a result of Operation Yellow Jacket, an intensive investigation by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF). The operation has been pivotal in dismantling drug trafficking networks across the United States.
