Charlotte Horelica, Sex Exploitation of a Child, Texas 2016

Waco, Texas – In a shocking case of child exploitation, 39-year-old Charlotte Horelica of Rockdale, Texas, was sentenced to 50 years in federal prison for her heinous crimes.

Horelica was found guilty of sexual exploitation of a child and distributing child pornography, with both sentences running consecutively. She was ordered to pay $10,000 to the Victims of Trafficking Fund and be placed on supervised release for five years after completing her prison term.

The horrific crimes committed by Horelica began in March 2016, when she permitted a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions of the conduct. She knowingly distributed images and videos depicting child pornography, which were transported in interstate and foreign commerce.

The investigation was conducted by the Texas Attorney General’s Office – Child Exploitation Unit with the assistance of the Rockdale Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Greg Gloff prosecuted this case on behalf of the Government.

As part of the Project Safe Childhood initiative, a nationwide program launched in May 2006 by the United States Government, this case was brought to justice. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Horelica’s guilty plea on August 30, 2016, revealed the extent of her crimes, and she has remained in custody since her arrest in May 2016. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting our children from exploitation and abuse.
