Armed Robbery at Local Dollar General Store Shocks Community

Florence, South Carolina — In a brazen display of violence, 26-year-old Che Quan Charon David Page of Latta, South Carolina, forced his way into a Dollar General store in Dillon on December 9, 2018, holding an employee at gunpoint.

Page, who was armed with a firearm, demanded that the employee turn off the alarm and hand over the cash from the store safe. He then stuffed the loot into a black drawstring bag and made his escape.

But Page’s getaway was short-lived. Minutes later, a Dillon County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted a vehicle speeding away from the scene, and upon stopping it, found Page as a passenger wearing clothing matching the description of the robber.

A search of the nearby roadside turned up a firearm consistent with the one used during the robbery, as well as a drawstring bag with cash scattered inside and around it.

Page’s arrest marked the end of a harrowing ordeal for the Dollar General employee, who was left shaken by the experience. The case has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers of gun violence and the importance of swift justice.

Page’s sentencing comes as a relief to the community, with United States District Judge Sherri A. Lydon handing down an 84-month prison term, followed by 60 months of court-ordered supervision. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, with Assistant United States Attorney Katherine Flynn prosecuting the case.
