Cheektowaga Man Jailed for 36 Months for Child Porn
A 34-year-old man from Cheektowaga, New York, has been sentenced to 36 months in prison for possession of child pornography, a heinous crime that shocks our community.
Robert Acker, 34, was convicted of the crime and sentenced by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo. The sentencing follows a thorough investigation by the FBI’s Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott S. Allen, Jr., who handled the case, the FBI executed a search warrant at Acker’s residence on September 1, 2016. The search yielded several electronic devices and DVDs, which were later found to contain more than 34,000 images and 918 videos of child pornography.
Some of the images and videos depicted prepubescent children less than 12 years of age, while others showed children being subjected to violent acts. Acker’s possession of such disturbing material is a clear indication of his depravity and a serious threat to our community.
The case highlights the importance of swift and severe punishment for those who commit heinous crimes such as child pornography. It is our hope that Acker’s sentence serves as a deterrent to others who would engage in similar atrocities.
The sentencing is a result of a collaborative effort between the FBI, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Adam S. Cohen, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. We commend their tireless efforts in bringing Acker to justice and protecting our children from such horrors.
