New Orleans, LA – May 31, 2022
Cheryl L. Kinchen, a 40-year-old resident of Tickfaw, Louisiana, pleaded guilty to two counts of filing false tax returns in her personal capacity before U.S. District Court Judge Greg G. Guidry.
According to court records, Kinchen, the owner/operator of Beyond Blessed Tax Services, prepared false tax returns in 2015 and 2017 for her own personal taxes, significantly underreporting the gross income she earned as a tax preparer for those time periods.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana announced the guilty plea, commending the special agents of IRS-Criminal Investigation for their handling of the matter.
Kinchen faces a maximum sentence of three years, up to one year of supervised release, up to a $100,000 fine, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee for the filing of false tax returns.
Sentencing is set for August 30, 2022.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward J. Rivera.
Kinchen’s crimes demonstrate a blatant disregard for the tax laws and a lack of integrity in the tax preparation industry. Her guilty plea serves as a reminder that those who engage in such behavior will be held accountable.
