Child Pornography Charges Land Iowa Man in Prison
In a disturbing case of child exploitation, 61-year-old Mark A. Yeager of rural Emerson, Iowa, has been sentenced to 36 months in prison for possession of child pornography.
According to court documents, on April 16, 2014, investigators seized several computers and computer paraphernalia from Yeager’s residence. A forensic examination of these items revealed images of child pornography on a thumb-drive seized from his home.
Yeager, who had previously pleaded guilty to the charge on September 1, 2015, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Stephanie Rose on January 22, 2016. In addition to his prison term, Yeager was ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release and pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.
The case was investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa handled the prosecution.
News of the sentencing has sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for increased scrutiny of online activity and harsher penalties for those who exploit children.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of child exploitation and the importance of vigilance in protecting our children from harm.
