Stacey J. LaPorte, Child Exploitation, New York 2016

Grimy Times has learned that two residents of Massena, New York, have been charged with the heinous crime of child exploitation. Stacey J. LaPorte, 26, and Mackenzie Bailey, 20, both face serious charges, including conspiracy to sexually exploit a minor child, and the sexual exploitation of minors.

According to sources, the charges against LaPorte and Bailey were filed in federal court following their arrest. LaPorte is alleged to have exploited not one, but three minors, including a child born in 2014, and two children born in 2003 and 1999. Bailey is charged with conspiring to sexually exploit the child born in 2014.

The crimes, which allegedly took place in 2016, carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years, a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of at least 5 years and up to life, and registration as a sex offender.

The investigation into LaPorte and Bailey’s alleged crimes was conducted by the New York State Police, the Massena Police Department, and the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, as part of Project Safe Childhood. Project Safe Childhood is a program launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child exploitation and abuse.

LaPorte was ordered detained following his arraignment, while Bailey was ordered detained pending a detention hearing, scheduled for November 2, 2016. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lisa M. Fletcher and Sahar Amandolare.

The charges against LaPorte and Bailey are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, the severity of the charges and the potential sentences should serve as a warning to would-be predators: child exploitation will not be tolerated.

The people of St. Lawrence County can rest a little easier knowing that their children are a little safer, thanks to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors who are committed to bringing child predators to justice.
