Jimmy Dale Kelley, Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, Oklahoma 2024

The gritty streets of Choctaw County witnessed a stark reminder of the law’s bite as Jimmy Dale Kelley, a 38-year-old resident of Grant, Oklahoma, was sentenced to time served for Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.

This sentence, handed down by the Honorable Ronald A. White, Chief U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, marked the culmination of an investigation spearheaded by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office.

Kelley, who also goes by the aliases Jimmy Dale Kelly and Jimmy Dale Robinson, pleaded guilty on May 27, 2025. The charge stemmed from an August 9, 2024, incident where authorities responded to a shooting and found him in possession of a .357 Magnum revolver and spent rounds of ammunition.

According to investigators, Kelley had been convicted of a crime carrying a prison sentence of more than one year prior to this incident. This conviction, which landed him on the wrong side of the law once again, resulted in his current sentence.

The ATF’s relentless pursuit of illegal firearms and ammunition played a crucial role in bringing this case to closure. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacob R. Parker represented the United States during the hearing, ensuring that justice was served.

With Kelley’s sentence behind him, Choctaw County residents can take solace in the fact that the law will continue to protect them from those who would seek to wield firearms without permission. The community is now looking forward to a safer future.
