Gas Station Blaze Sparks Federal Charges for Winnebago Man
Christian B.M. Crawford, 28, Indicted for Arson of Ridgeway VP Gas Station in Neenah, WI
A federal grand jury has returned an indictment against Christian B.M. Crawford, charging him with arson of a building in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 844(i). The indictment alleges that Crawford maliciously damaged the Ridgeway VP gas station in Neenah, Wisconsin, by fire on January 22, 2021.
According to the indictment, if convicted, Crawford faces a mandatory minimum five-year prison term and a maximum of 20 years of imprisonment. He also faces a fine of up to $250,000.
The case was investigated by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Neenah Police Department, the Town of Menasha Police Department, the Town of Fox Crossing Police Department, and the Town of Clayton Fire Department. Assistant United States Attorney Daniel R. Humble will prosecute the case.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Crawford is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
