A South Euclid man has been charged with using a firearm while trafficking fentanyl, heroin, and pills.
Christopher Bowen, 25, was charged in a 10-count indictment with distribution of drugs, possession with intent to distribute drugs, using a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to the indictment, Bowen sold fentanyl and heroin on several occasions in May and June.
On June 28, Bowen was found to be in possession of approximately 14 grams of a heroin/fentanyl mixture, 31 grams of heroin, 64 Alprazolam pills, a Jimenez Arms 9 mm handgun, a Bryco Arms 9 mm handgun, an Anderson MFG long rifle, and ammunition.
The indictment states that Bowen was prohibited from having a firearm or ammunition due to a prior conviction for drug trafficking.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, and it is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Marisa T. Darden and Elliot Morrison.
If convicted, Bowen’s sentence will be determined by the court after review of factors unique to this case, including his prior criminal record, his role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violations.
In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and, in most cases, it will be less than the maximum.
An indictment is a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Bowen is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
