Myers pleaded guilty to receipt of child sexual abuse material and transferring obscene material to a minor, announced United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.

According to court documents, Myers used a social media account to chat with a minor in September 2021. During the online chats, Myers requested the minor send him child sexual abuse material of themselves, which they did. Furthermore, Myers sent the minor videos of himself performing sex acts on himself.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Salinas, California Police Department and the Fairfax County (VA) Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney John M. Maciejczyk prosecuted the case.

Myers was sentenced to 90 months in prison, 5 years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $4,296.89 in restitution to the victims of the offense.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse. Launched in 2006, the program marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.
