Fort Myers, Florida – United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced that Christopher Davies (31, Cape Coral) was arraigned in federal court on an indictment charging him with one count of making threats against the President of the United States.
According to the indictment, Davies wrote and delivered a letter to an official at the Charlotte Correctional Institute stating in substance that he intended to kill President Donald Trump.
If convicted, Davies faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison. An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.
This case was investigated by the United States Secret Service. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick L. Darcey.
Davies’ arraignment marked the beginning of his journey through the federal court system, where he will face the charges brought against him. The case serves as a reminder of the seriousness with which the government views threats against public officials.
The United States Secret Service played a crucial role in investigating this case, working tirelessly to gather evidence and build a strong case against Davies.
As this case moves forward, the community will be watching closely to see how it unfolds. The government will be pushing for a conviction, while Davies’ defense team will be working to prove his innocence.
