Christopher Frater Sentenced to 10 Years for Cocaine Trafficking, Omaha NE, 2023

Christopher Frater, 30, of Ontario, Canada, was sentenced to 120 months’ imprisonment for possessing with intent to distribute cocaine in Omaha, Nebraska, according to Acting United States Attorney Susan Lehr.

On September 14, 2023, Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. handed down the sentence in federal court in Omaha. This marks the end of a lengthy investigation that began with a traffic stop on I-80 in Sarpy County.

On July 13, 2022, Omaha Police Department officers working on I-80 observed a 2021 Nissan Maxima with Virginia license plates commit several traffic violations. The officers pulled over the vehicle, which was driven by Frater, and discovered that it was a rental car on a one-way trip from Los Angeles, California, to New York.

During the traffic stop, Frater made inconsistent statements about the purpose and timing of his travel, which raised the officer’s suspicions. A K-9 sniff of the rental vehicle was conducted, and the K-9 positively alerted to the scent of narcotics in the vehicle.

In the trunk of the car, officers found three Home Depot boxes containing more than 125 pounds of cocaine, which was laboratory confirmed as to both weight and substance.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Omaha Field Division, and the Omaha Police Department. Frater will begin a 5-year term of supervised release after serving his prison sentence.
