A former Harris Township Supervisor in Pennsylvania has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for producing child pornography and obstruction of justice.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Christopher G. Lee, 67, was sentenced to 216 months’ imprisonment by United States District Court Judge Matthew W. Brann in Williamsport on March 2016.
The jury convicted Lee of production, receipt, and possession of child pornography, as well as obstruction of justice. The evidence presented in court showed that Lee had produced and received images of child pornography, including images of prepubescent children under the age of 12 years old.
The investigation into Lee’s activities was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the State College Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Meredith A. Taylor and Francis P. Sempa.
Lee’s sentence was handed down after a jury convicted him of obstruction of justice, which involved his attempts to have his cousin assist him in having his cellular telephone, which was in the custody of the FBI, ‘wiped remotely’ in multiple recorded phone calls.
The former director of the Boal Mansion Museum in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, Lee’s crimes have left a dark stain on his community. As a former Harris Township Supervisor, he was trusted with the responsibility of serving and protecting the public, but he instead used his position for his own nefarious purposes.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of holding public officials accountable for their actions. The sentence handed down to Lee is a just punishment for his crimes and a warning to others who would engage in similar behavior.
