BANK ROBBERY SPREE ENDS IN PRISON SENTENCE
A former resident of Gates, New York, has been sentenced in federal court to 69 months in jail and ordered to make restitution of $16,370 on his convictions for bank robbery. Christopher Mancuso, 43, was sentenced by United States District Judge Elizabeth A.Wolford of the Western District of New York.
Mancuso was found guilty of robbing the M&T Bank at 1282 Long Pond Road, Greece, New York, on Nov. 6, 2012, stealing $10,060 in cash. He also robbed the Chase Bank at 3917 Lake Avenue, Rochester, New York, on Dec. 18, 2013, making off with $3,200 in cash.
But that’s not all – Mancuso acted as the getaway driver during a robbery of Chase Bank, located at 2900 Dewey Avenue, Rochester, New York, on Jan. 17, 2014, and again during a robbery at First Niagara Bank located at 12 Spencerport Road, Rochester, New York, on Jan. 31, 2014.
Prior to imposing sentence, Judge Wolfrod noted that Mancuso was on parole during each of the four bank robberies. She also took into account Mancuso’s lengthy criminal history dating back to his teenage years.
Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold prosecuted this case on behalf of the government. U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Gates Police Department, the Greece Police Department, and the Rochester Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Mancuso.
Mancuso will serve his sentence at a federal correctional facility and must pay $16,370 in restitution to the victims of his crimes. The people of Western New York can rest a little easier knowing that this bank robber is behind bars.
