Church Bus Driver Charged with Aggravated Sexual Abuse

CINCINNATI – A shocking case of abuse has come to light in Ohio, with a church bus driver facing federal charges for allegedly sexually abusing two young boys.

Jory Leedy, 46, of Franklin, Ohio has been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse involving a minor, according to a federal indictment returned in Cincinnati.

The indictment alleges that Leedy, a volunteer bus driver for Target Ministries of Dayton, met the victims through his work and began abusing them when they were as young as seven and eight years old.

Leedy allegedly ingratiated himself into the family, visiting the victims’ home, taking them to church and on trips to the zoo, Cincinnati Reds games, and Kings Island. He even took them on vacations out of state.

However, Leedy’s true identity was discovered after an altercation with the victims’ father, during which the police were called. It was then that the family learned Leedy was a registered sex offender.

The indictment alleges that the abuse continued for over two years, with Leedy threatening the victims that if they told anyone, he would no longer be able to take them on fun outings or buy them games and clothes.

Aggravated sexual abuse involving a person less than 12 years of age carries a potential maximum sentence of up to life in prison. Acting U.S. Attorney Benjamin C. Glassman commended the investigation by the FBI and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, as well as Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy L. Muncy, who is prosecuting the case.

It is essential to note that an indictment merely contains allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
