Bank Robber on the Loose in Princeton
A brazen bank robbery shook the quiet streets of Princeton, New Jersey, on July 28, 2024. Ciara Brascom, 39, of Skillman, allegedly stormed into a local bank, waving a black handgun and demanding cash from a terrified bank teller.
According to court documents, Brascom threatened to use the gun if the bank’s alarm was activated, before making off with approximately $60,500. The daring heist sent shockwaves through the community, leaving residents wondering how such a brazen crime could occur in their midst.
Brascom’s initial appearance in U.S. Magistrate Judge Tonianne J. Bongiovanni’s Trenton federal court took place on February 11, 2025. She faces one count of bank robbery, punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
The investigation, led by special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation under the direction of Acting Special Agent in Charge Terence G. Reilly in Newark, involved the Princeton Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard G. Shephard represents the government in this case.
While the charges against Brascom have been leveled, she remains innocent until proven guilty. The outcome of this case will be closely watched by the community, as the people of Princeton seek justice for the brazen bank robbery that shook their town.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in preventing and solving crimes.
