A Clairton man with a prior conviction is facing serious charges after being indicted for violating federal firearms and narcotics laws.
According to the two-count indictment, Bradley Dawkins, 34, of Clairton, Pennsylvania, possessed a firearm as a convicted felon on June 28, 2023. Dawkins’ prior conviction makes him ineligible to possess a firearm or ammunition under federal law.
The indictment also alleges that Dawkins possessed with intent to distribute quantities of fentanyl, crack cocaine, and powder cocaine on the same day. These controlled substances are classified as Schedule II substances and are subject to strict regulations.
Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin C. Dobkin is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities.
Under federal law, Dawkins faces a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison, a fine of not more than $1 million, or both. The actual sentence would be determined by the seriousness of the offenses and Dawkins’ prior criminal history.
An indictment is an accusation, and Dawkins is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The case is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
