Mobile, AL – In a shocking turn of events, Clarence White, 45, was sentenced to 151 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama.
On October 23, 2023, Mobile police officers went to White’s residence to arrest him for multiple outstanding warrants. After speaking with White through the door, White began shooting out of a window of the home, narrowly missing one of the officers. White’s actions were a clear disregard for the safety of law enforcement and the community.
White has multiple prior felony convictions, including convictions for attempted murder, possession of a controlled substance, and assault. As a convicted felon, White is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
White was indicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm and pled guilty to the charge. United States District Court Judge Callie V. S. Granade sentenced White to 151 months in prison followed by a 3-year term of supervised release for illegally possessing the firearm.
The investigation into White’s actions was a joint effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Mobile Police Department. The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities across the country.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica S. Terrill prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States. The sentencing of Clarence White serves as a reminder of the consequences of illegal firearm possession and the importance of community involvement in reducing crime.
