Clarion, IA – A grim admission was made in federal court today as Skyler Wyatt, a 25-year-old resident of Clarion, Iowa, pleaded guilty to producing child pornography.
In the most recent victory against child exploitation, Wyatt admitted that he used a child to make pornographic material in 2016. The disturbing crime occurred in Clarion, and Wyatt was swiftly apprehended by local law enforcement agencies, including the Wright County Sheriff’s Office and the Webster County Sheriff’s Office.
The case, which is part of Project Safe Childhood – an initiative launched by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse – has been prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel. Sentencing will be determined after a presentence report is completed, with Wyatt currently in custody pending his fate.
Wyatt faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment and a potential maximum of 30 years behind bars. In addition to this, he could be fined up to $250,000, assessed $5,100 in special assessments, and subjected to supervised release ranging from five years to life following any imprisonment.
