ARREST made! Two felons from Dubuque, Iowa, have been hit with federal prison sentences after being caught red-handed in a brazen gun burglary. Arthur Robledo, 25, and Adam Becker, also 25, both faced serious charges following their guilty plea to possession of firearms by a felon.
Robledo received a 57-month sentence on June 30, 2016, while Becker was handed a 71-month term on July 5, 2016. United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade presided over the sentencing in Cedar Rapids.
The duo admitted to stealing firearms during a burglary in Dubuque on March 29, 2016. But that’s not all—Chief Judge Reade found Robledo was deeply entrenched in the ‘Latin Kings’ gang and posed a significant threat to public safety. His record includes an incident on Christmas 2014, where he allegedly attempted to bite a police officer and threatened the lives of law enforcement officers.
Becker, identified as a ‘serial burglar,’ faced his own set of concerns with Judge Reade noting his “very concerning criminal history” involving multiple burglary convictions. Despite repeated offenses, Becker had previously received leniency in state court.
The pair must also serve a three-year term of supervised release post-prison term. No parole is offered in the federal system. They remain in U.S. Marshal’s custody until their transfer to federal prison.
This grim tale of crime and punishment was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Tim Vavricek and Lisa Williams, with the Dubuque Police Department leading the investigation. For more details on this chilling case, visit the court file information here.
