CLEVELAND – In a stunning turn of events, Christopher Galaszewski, 27, of Cleveland, has been sentenced to 184 months (15 years) in federal prison for distributing child pornography while on parole. Galaszewski pleaded guilty to the distribution of visual depictions of real minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and possession of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM).
U.S. District Judge Donald C. Nugent imposed the sentence, which also includes 15 years of supervised release after imprisonment and a $10,000 fine under the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act (JVTA). Galaszewski will be registered as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
Court documents reveal that from June 23 to July 6, 2023, Galaszewski distributed computer files containing explicit images of minors. One image depicted a prepubescent minor under the age of 12.
Galaszewski’s parole officer discovered the child porn after he reported a possible email hack during a check-in call. Subsequent searches of his digital devices yielded nearly 200 images and videos of CSAM.
This investigation was led by U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Margaret A. Kane. It is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
